Event Advertisement

Promotion for your student organization is important to the organizationfor reasons other than attracting a crowd on the day. A well promoted event increases public awareness of the organization. Here are a list of ways student organizations can advertise there events on and off campus. 

Current Events:

Use WaveLink or  Campus Calendar to find events going on now! To submit an event for inclusion in the Student Organization Events Calendar, please use the "Submit Event" link on our Home page: www.uncw.edu/activities.

Chalking and Spray Paint- bring your student ID to the CAIC office, which we must keep the ID whileyou are chalking and spray painting. Chalk buckets have where you can and cannot chalk, and each organzationcan only check out a single chalk bucket OR spray paint cans (4 max) at one time.

Email your event 2 week in advance to Hawk E-News hawkenews@uncw.edu that gets sent to every student’s e-mail every week

The Campus Activities bulletin boards have a yellow sign on the top of the board indicating were you can post. PleaseDO NOT USE OUR STAPLES! Use push pins only.

Student Organizations can post flyers in the following locations on the CAIC Boards only without approval:

Fisher Student Center
Burney Center
Alderman Hall
King Hall
Randall Library
Bear Hall
Morton Hall
Leutze Hall
Osprey Hall
Cameron School of Business
DoboHall
Warwick Center
Wagoner Dining Hall

To get a full detailed list of where these boards are located please stop by CAIC.

Flyers can be hung in Housing & Residential Life (HRL) ten (10) business days prior to the event by deliver to an attendant at the HRL Office. 

Banners Hanging Process:

For a banner to be approved in must be completely finished before the Involvement Specialist can approve it.
All banners MUST include the name of the organization on the banner and a contact email.
Involvement Specialist will give student organizations a sticker if the banner is approved. The sticker must have the banner post #, location, and initials from the Involvement Specialist.
Student Organizations may reserve a banner location for up to 2 weeks.
All banner locations require Twin size sheets.
Ask an Involvement Specialist how to use our Grommet Maker to make banner hanging easier.
Make sure to cut slits in banner to help with the wind.
Approved Banner Locations:
Spirit Rock: (4) in front of the Union, facing Commons
Wagoner Dining Hall: (4) Directly in front of Wagoner
Gazebo Fields: (2) Near baseball/volleyball fields and University Aparptments
DoboHall: (2) Near DoboHall, facing Chancellor’s Walk
Computer Information Systems (CIS) Building: (3) At the start of Chancellor’s Walk (in front of the bridge)
Fisher Student Center (FSC): (3) two locations at center staircase and one location at upper Bookstore entrance
Fisher University Union (FUU): (2) two locations at the staircase in FUU 

Locations for Off-Campus Organizations to Post Flyers:

-Fisher Student Center, near info desk
-Randall Library, bulletin boards in entrance lobby
-Warwick, hallway across from the cashiers’ window
-In student organizations mailboxes
-NOT in CAIC windows or on CAIC boards
