Software Engineering, B.S. Program Overview

Create Innovative Software Systems

Software engineering emphasizes the study of principles and practices necessary to create high-quality software systems that meet the requirements of real-world use. 

The bachelor’s program in software engineering starts with foundation-essential skills in computer programming, version control, program verification and the software lifecycle using real-world tools. The program includes an introduction to entrepreneurship, seminars with industry experts, and math and science courses required for ABET accreditation. 

Upperclassmen study advanced topics including software analysis, construction and security. The curriculum culminates in a two-semester capstone where student teams implement software systems for external clients. Electives in software engineering, computer science and data science allow for personalized learning, preparing graduates for successful careers in software engineering.
