Psychology Minor Program Overview

The Value of Research

The UNCW Department of Psychology supports an outstanding undergraduate program and is strongly committed to involving students in the research process. You will work closely with our outstanding faculty as a junior colleague to investigate a wide variety of topics including basic brain processes, drug effects, memory-improvement techniques, social cognitive factors underlying prejudice, ways to reduce school violence and the evaluation of psychological treatments.

Service Learning

Apply what you learn in the classroom to real-life settings. The study of psychology gives you the chance to use technology, learn to communicate, and be able to analyze ideas critically.

How Do I Minor in Psychology?

Requirements: 

PSY 105 - General Psychology and fifteen additional hours in psychology, with at least six hours at the 300-400 level.

A grade of “C” or better is required in PSY 105, and no more than one course with a grade of “D” can count toward the requirements for a minor in psychology.

There also must be a “C” (2.00) or better average on all courses counted toward the minor.

    In addition to a traditional minor in psychology, UNCW students can also earn an interdisciplinary (interdepartmental) minor that has a psychology component.

    Applied Behavior Analysis and Developmental/Intellectual Disabilities Minor

    Develop an understanding of the fundamentals of behavior analysis and how these principles are applied to individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, autism, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, down syndrome, etc.
