Prepare for a future as a:

Develop skills to thrive as a working artist.

Create visual text and imagery concepts, by hand or using computer software, to communicate ideas that inspire and inform consumers.

Use computer programs and illustrations to create graphics and animation.

Prepare to teach art in grades K-12.

Produce films, video games or graphics for commercials and other forms of TV.

Create the rules, characters, settings, stories, and for new games, and write the code.

The major is excellent preparation for a career working in a gallery or a museum.

Learn TO

Understand the importance of art-making, its implications, its history and its potential.

Cultivate aesthetic decision making.

Develop creative problem solving, critical and analytical thinking.

Communicate effectively about your own work and the work of others.

Develop competence in art-making techniques and processes, and be proficient in at least one medium.

The hands-on, project-based experiences of UNCW’s Studio & Digital Arts program allowed me to explore my interests and gain a breadth of knowledge and skills.
