Welcome to the Watson College of Education Curriculum Materials Center!
We respond to multiple names: “CMC”, “CMC Land”, “The Happy Place”, or “The place that has everything.” Whatever you call us, we are here to serve you and support your educational endeavors.
The CMC is located in the Education Building, (EB127), beside the Betty Holden Stike Educational Lab (Ed Lab). Visually our Center is found behind the chalkboard display in the atrium.
Our collection holds PreK-12 teaching resources including NC textbooks, audiovisual kits, manipulatives, posters, art prints, 3D Models, CD’s, DVD’s, musical instruments, a small variety of lab equipment, visual aids, and more. Roughly more than 20,000 items that we loan to our users.
Additionally, the CMC hosts a makerspace where we provide hands-on instruction for those wanting to learn new skills, utilize a variety of tools, and make/craft unique items. Users can then apply these skills to their teaching in PreK-12 settings. This applied learning model can enhance lesson plans and offer opportunities to better engage with learners. The variety of skills offered are included in the Empower column below.
The CMC is currently closed for walk-in traffic. However, we developed an enhanced service model to support our users and to empower them to be successful. Patrons can request the following services: bookbinding (spiral-bound, 3-hole punched w/fasteners, or stapled), laminating for WCE students (10 feet free per semester), die-cutting for over 300 shapes, letters, and numbers, and safe pickups for resources (consumables & CMC collections).
Please fill out our CMC Services Request Form and include the service(s) you need (bookbinding, laminating, die-cutting, or safe pickups), a brief description of your needs, and contact information so we can assist you by email and/or text.
