INSTRUMENTAL ENSEMBLES
The UNCW Department of Music offers a variety of instrumental ensembles, open to all university students. Students can earn credit, create lasting friendships, and stay connected to music, even while pursuing another major. Our ensemble directors are dedicated to fostering community through artistic excellence and inclusive programming. We have a place for you in one of our dynamic ensembles!SYMPHONIC BAND
The UNCW Symphonic Band (MUS 185-001) performs a variety of music for winds (traditional, marches, transcriptions, and contemporary works) and features guest conductors and soloists. Students participate in two concerts per semester. Membership is open to all UNCW students with previous band experience, and no audition is required.
Rehearsals: Monday and Wednesday, 3:30-4:45

PEP BAND
UNCW's primary athletic band, the Pep Band (MUS 188-001) provides music and school spirit at men's and women's basketball home games and travels to post-season tournaments with the teams. Membership is open to all UNCW students with previous band experience. Financial compensation ($) is awarded for attendance at games.

JAZZ ENSEMBLE
Composed of students from throughout the university, music majors and minors, as well as non majors, Jazz Ensemble/Big Band (MUS184-001) performs a variety of jazz music from swing to mainstream jazz and has established a tradition of musical excellence in jazz with performances at home and abroad. Open to all UNCW students with instrumental experience (previous jazz experience is helpful but not required). Auditions for placement are held at the beginning of each semester.
Rehearsals: Tuesday and Thrusday, 5:00-6:15

STRING ENSEMBLE
Membership is open to all UNCW students with previous string experience; no audition is necessary. The ensemble presents two concerts each semester, performing string orchestral literature from all musical periods.
Rehearsals: Monday and Wednesday, 6:00-7:15
