CHSSA Dedicates COM Studies Applied Learning Classroom

The College of Humanities, Social Sciences, and the Arts at UNCW celebrated the dedication of the new Applied Learning Classroom supported by the Tom and Mimi Cunningham Support Fund for Communication Studies.

IMC Conference: May 28-30

The eighth biennial Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) Conference will be held at the Embassy Suites Wilmington. This year's theme, Navigating IMC, will address diverse modern and evolving topics within IMC.

Congratulations to Dr. Yiyi Yang!

Dr. Yiyi Yang at the Department of Communication Studies is the recipient of the Excellence in Nonverbal Pedagogy Award at the 109th National Communication Association (NCA) annual convention. The award is provided by the Nonverbal Communication Division. It is given to an educator whose college/university-level pedagogical activities or teaching strategy that is selected by the committee as the best submission for that year. The competition is open to all types of instructors (including all faculty types and graduate student instructors). We are proud of the dedication and hard work that Dr. Yang has shown, congratulations!

Congratulations Dr. Julie-Ann Scott-Pollock & Frank Trimble!

Dr. Julie-Ann Scott-Pollock received a presidential citation for service for leading the organization in research and teaching to be more accessible at the National Communication Association (NCA) annual convention. Dr. Julie-Ann Scott-Pollock, Dr. Evan Scott-Pollock and Frank Trimble received the Best Aural/Visual Ethnography Award for Gazed At: Stories of a Mortal Body at the National Communication Association (NCA) annual convention. We are proud of them for their hard work and dedication!

Congratulations to Dr. Kati Sudnick!

Dr. Kati Sudnick is the recipient of the National Communication Association Leadership and Service Recognition Award. The award is presented by the Communication Ethics Division and honors outstanding leadership qualities and service work within this sub-discipline. Dr. Sudnick received the award for her extensive work within the Communication Ethics Division beginning in 2020 as Vice-Chair Elect. We are proud of Dr. Sudnick's hard work!

Congratulations COM Students and Faculty!

Congratulations to our COM students who earned awards and recognitions in national competitions. Fiona Johnston and Caleb Olsen earned national recognition for their podcast. Thaddaeus Freidline and Will Matthews earn two awards for their Digital Drip episode and their short form documentary promoting a community event: Cincinnati Alchemy Fest 2022. Anthony Woodruff, Alex Asteroids, and Morgan Conley earned a Telly Award for their video, Building a Brand: KB Swim. Shout out to COM Faculty Mr. Pernell and Dr. Bolduc for their direction on these projects!
