The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UNCW offers two undergraduate degrees: a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry and a Bachelor of Science in chemistry.
The B.S. degree is accredited by the American Chemical Society through their Committee on Professional Training. This degree is appropriate for students planning a career in chemistry, including those contemplating graduate school.
It requires 400 hours of laboratory training above the 100 level, and courses taught by faculty who specialize in each of the five core disciplines: organic, inorganic, physical, analytical and biochemistry.
The B.A. degree is designed for students who want a strong background in chemistry but plan to pursue careers in other areas, such as medicine, environmental science, biology, etc.
Our chemistry and biochemistry students are eligible for a variety of scholarships by completing the the chemistry section of the UNCW scholarship application.
