Miles Lackey serves as Vice Chancellor for Business Affairs at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, reporting directly to Chancellor Aswani Volety.

Lackey provides executive leadership for the university’s financial management, facilities and capital planning, and a wide range of operational services that support UNCW’s mission of teaching, research, and service. Since joining UNCW in 2018, he has implemented modern financial planning systems that enhanced operational efficiency and strengthened the university’s overall financial position. He has also led several transformative initiatives, including the award-winning Student Housing Village and The Shore Dining Complex.

Before coming to UNCW, Lackey held senior leadership roles at Iowa State University, where he served as Chief Financial Officer and a member of the ISU Foundation Investment Committee. He also worked for the University of North Carolina System as Director of Federal Relations in Washington, D.C., representing the System’s interests with Congress, federal funding agencies, and national higher-education associations such as the AAU, APLU, and AAMC.

A first-generation college graduate, Lackey holds an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an MPA from George Mason University, and a BA in Political Science from Lenoir-Rhyne University.
