Announcing UNCW's Next QEP Topic

January 10, 2022

Dear Academic Affairs Faculty and Staff,

I am delighted to let the campus community know that the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) Topic Selection Committee has recommended that the “Cultivating the Collaborative Campus: High-Impact Interdisciplinary Research & Teaching” topic be the university’s next QEP! The Chancellor and I endorse this recommendation whole-heartedly. I have conveyed our excitement and congratulations to the selected proposal’s team, and look forward to the progression of the QEP as it is prepared for official launch in late 2023. My sincere thanks to the QEP Topic Selection Committee for their hard work throughout this past year.

I wish to thank the many faculty and staff who submitted proposals and made presentations to the campus community during this process. Your work provides important ideas and insights related to international education, community engagement, team-based problem solving, and digital literacy. I believe many of these ideas could be incorporated in the final selected QEP topic.

But, there are a few more steps to go before this QEP can be officially launched. In the near future, a QEP Implementation Team will be named and charged with turning the proposal into the full QEP for review in the upcoming SACSCOC reaccreditation process. Also, a QEP Director will be identified. I know these two groups will be in close communication with the campus community as their work proceeds, so please stay tuned for opportunities to participate in the development process in the coming months and further campus messages.

In the meantime, I encourage you to visit the QEP webpage for more information on the selected topic proposal, a timeline leading to the official launch, and background on the importance of this work to our university’s mission and goals.

Yours,

James J. Winebrake, Ph.D.
