The mission statement for Academic Affairs is reviewed annually at the fall retreat of the Deans' Council. After reviewing suggestions from faculty and department chairs, each dean, along with other administrators that report to Academic Affairs, is given an opportunity to make changes or additions to the statement. These are incorporated into an updated version that reflects the goals and directions identified by Academic Affairs at the retreat. The mission statement is also reviewed when Academic Affairs produces a new strategic plan and/or in response to special university initiatives that arise from the Chancellor's Office or the University Planning Committee.
