Richard Ogle began his career at UNCW in 2002 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology.  He currently holds the rank of Professor of Psychology and serves in the role of Senior Associate Provost for Academic Affairs.  In addition to serving as the deputy provost, Dr. Ogle is the senior enrollment management officer for UNCW, providing operational, fiscal, and strategic oversight to the Office of Admissions, the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid, and the Office of the Registrar.  In addition, he oversees UNCW Randall Library and the Center for Teaching Excellence/Center for Faculty Leadership. 

Prior to serving in his current role, Dr. Ogle served as Associate Dean for Faculty Policy and Enrollment Management for the College of Arts and Sciences (2015-2017), Psychology Department Chair (2011 – 2015). Psychology Department Graduate Coordinator (2009-2011), and Clinical Training Coordinator (2005-2009).   

Dr. Ogle is an award-winning teacher and mentor.  He is the recipient of the Chancellor’s Teaching Excellence Award, the Distinguished Teaching Professorship, and the Graduate Mentor Award.  As a clinical psychologist, he has clinical expertise in the fields of addictive behaviors and post-traumatic stress.  His research program focuses on the link between alcohol and other drugs on aggressive and violent behavior.
