Literacy Live

Give your child the joy of reading with our dramatic play program, Literacy Live. Children (ages 4-7) develop reading comprehension skills while acting out stories using simple costumes, sets and props. The stories are selected from critically reviewed literature featuring specific themes. Children are encouraged to use their imaginations, personal experiences and creativity to recreate the stories and demonstrate comprehension. The themes are also integrated into other fun activities such as science, math, art and music. We offer Saturday programs and summer camps.

Summer 2013 Camp Registration Closed.

Recycling Rangers (June 10-14): Spend a week with Literacy Live and discover how you can Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Reclaim and even Re-imagine old trash into new treasure to show your Respect for the planet. Enjoy stories that feature recycling. Use your “re-imagination” to create 20 different take-home projects. Learn about sustainable foods and other products. Enjoy a sustainable feast on Friday and showcase your eco-art. Earn all six of your "R" badges and become a Recycling Ranger.

World Travelers (June 24-28): Spend a week with Literacy Live as we travel around the world exploring different countries. Discover their stories, art, and music. Learn how to play their traditional games and make some to take home. Explore their foods and learn how to make some yummy international dishes. Admire their traditional costumes and create one of your very own. Enjoy a feast and parade of nations on the final day.
