Listen to Josh Brock's interview on GolfWeekly.com

Dear Seahawk Parents,

My husband and I will always be Seahawks at heart.  As proud UNCW alumni, we both have been influenced by the mentors who inspired us as students and the life-long friendships we cherish to this day.  Naturally, we were thrilled when both of our sons, Eddie Jr. ’09 and Josh ’11, made the decision to attend our alma mater.  We know first-hand that UNCW not only prepares students with a quality education, but also offers them a well-rounded experience that focuses on giving back and helping others.

Both of our sons have been members of the UNCW Men’s Golf Team and were fortunate to receive scholarships.  The generosity demonstrated by the UNCW family of donors has been a blessing to our family, and we are so very thankful for their support.  This past summer, our youngest son Josh qualified for the U.S. Open.  It was an unbelievable experience for him and our family as we all learned about the hard work and resources it takes to compete at the professional level.  As parents of student athletes, we have traveled extensively over the past few years, which has given us opportunities to get to know our boys’ teammates and coaches.  It has been a joy being able to stay actively engaged in our sons’ lives as college students.

Whether your child is involved in athletics, the arts, a career-specific club or just working hard to excel academically, you too can play an active role in your student’s college experience – by making a gift to UNCW.  Gifts to the Parent Opportunity Fund help bridge the gap between the finances used for academic excellence and the phenomenal co-curricular activities UNCW offers. Sending a child to college represents a significant investment for any family but please keep in mind that tuition only covers approximately 30 percent of the university’s operating expenses.  With perpetual reductions in state resources, UNCW is relying on the support of donors now more than ever to preserve the university’s outstanding academic climate and enrich the overall student experience.

When we contribute to UNCW, we send a powerful message to our children that we are making an additional investment in their future.  We are leading by example and telling our children that philanthropy is important and should be a part of everyone’s lives.  We hope that you agree and will consider making a gift of $250, $100, $50 – or any amount you feel appropriate to the area that interests your student and you.  Please be aware that 100 percent of your gift to UNCW goes directly to the program you specify.

We hope you will join us in making an annual gift to UNCW.  Together our gifts will add up to mean the difference between an excellent education and an exceptional experience for our children, ensuring that they grow into intelligent, successful, caring adults. Thank you for consideration.

With Seahawk Pride,
