Bolivia Volunteer Experience Available to Nursing Students

Flyer for tripMorgan Clark (May ’18), founder and president of the UNCW organization Make A Change, hopes to interest other nursing students in participating in a volunteer trip to Bolivia in December 2017. The trip is sponsored by Make A Change, a student organization designed to provide resources to mothers and infants in the Wilmington area. Many nursing students are involved with the organization, including several representatives from ANS.

The two-week trip involves student volunteers working in a rural maternal infant clinic, providing immunizations to mothers and infants and conducting nutritional teaching, pneumonia prevention and recommended maternal-infant care. The trip is organized through the nonprofit organization Curamericas. Local nurses who serve the project site will be supervising the nursing students.

According to Clark, several nursing students have already volunteered to participate, but additional spaces are available. For more information, please contact Clark at mlc8125@uncw.edu.
