Hawks Helping Haiti
"Hawks Helping Haiti" was comprised of students from Dr. Darrell Irwin's two CRM 110 Issues in Criminal Justice classes in the Spring 2010 Semester. Every semester, Dr. Irwin includes a public service project which requires students to become involved in community service or meet a community need. Following the devastating earthquake in Haiti, Dr. Irwin asked the class to assist Haiti's Earthquake victims for their service learning project. It was later decided that the class would hold a candy sale in the University Union to raise money for Haitian earthquake relief.
"Hawks Helping Haiti" raised $636.35 for the Haiti Connection, a non profit organization working to help people in the earthquake ravaged country. That money was later used to make a family in Haiti's home livable again by building them a new roof!
