Class Attendance Verification
Please check your summary class lists on SeaNet. If your roster matches the group of students attending your class, no further action is necessary or requested at this time. Thank you for doing this verification.
If you identify any students who are on your class roster, but have never attended, please send their names and ID numbers to the Office of the Registrar. Please include the course number and section number of your class and send the email from your UNCW email account to email@example.com.
If you have students who have been attending your class since before the drop/add deadline and whose names do not appear on your roster, they will need your approval and their academic associate dean’s approval to add your class. To have such a student added, please e-mail the appropriate associate dean or director of your college or school with the student’s name, ID number, your course and section numbers, and your verification of the student’s attendance. Then refer that student to that associate dean or director. For graduate students, send approval requests to the Dean of the Graduate School.
Please ensure you and your students aware of the last day to withdraw from the term. The dates are different depending on whether you’re teaching an undergraduate, graduate, or online accelerated course. For online accelerated courses, you can find those withdrawal dates at http://www.uncw.edu/reg/calendars-events-OAP.htm. We would like to have your updates as soon as possible, in order to contact the students in time for them to respond, before their respective deadlines.
Online Attendance Verification
In a distance education context, logging into an online class is not sufficient, by itself, to demonstrate academic attendance by the student. The student must participate in class or otherwise be engaged in an academically related activity, such as by contributing to an online discussion or initiating contact with a faculty member to ask a course-related question. If you have students on your roster that have not demonstrated this level of contact, please forward their information to the Office of the Registrar.
