Cooperstown Quartet

The Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival brings internationally-renowned musicians to North Carolina and beyond for concerts, master classes and interactive community outreach. In residence at East Carolina University, the festival is celebrating its 17th season. Four Seasons presents the brilliant and dynamic Cooperstown Quartet in performance of Felix Mendelssohn’s String Quartet in E-Flat Major, Op. 12; Haydn’s String Quartet in D Minor, Op. 76 No. 2 “Quinten”; and Ludwig van Beethoven’s String Quartet in C Major, Op. 59 No. 1.

The athletic and fearless young artists of Hubbard Street 2 perform new dances by ascendant choreographers in a diverse program of repertoire. Hubbard Street artists aim for transformation - changing lives through the experience of dance – and are known for their use of improvisation to explore new ideas.

Using vintage overhead projectors, multiple screens, shadow puppets, actors, live feed cameras, multi-channel sound design, and a live music ensemble, Manual Cinema transforms the experience of attending the cinema and imbues it with liveness, ingenuity, and theatricality. Guest vocalist Kurt Elling joins the Branford Marsalis Quartet in a singular collaboration of musical forces. The tight-knit working band featuring Marsalis on saxophone, Joey Calderazzo on piano, Eric Revis on bass and Justin Faulkner on drums rarely invites other musicians into the folds of their nearly telepahtically cohesive unit. This concert features the vocal stylings of Elling, known for his innovative interpretations of jazz standards and his wildly beautiful vocalese.

A dozen musicians from Nile-adjacent countries using music as an agent for social change, creative process as a model for sustainable systems to discuss resources. This concert launches a five-day residency which delves artistically and academically into Wilmington’s relationship with both the Cape Fear River and Atlantic Ocean.
