Nicholas Duchamp, Elizabeth Loparits, and Nancy King
French Classical Flute, Piano, & Voice
Nicolas Duchamp is an internationally acclaimed performer and respected teacher, in the tradition of the Paris Conservatory French school of flute playing, of which Philippe Gaubert was among the most famous. Born in Bordeaux France, ( as Barrere and Taffanel ) he received directly the tradition of the French flute playing from his teachers in his native city.
Mr. Duchamp has served for many years as principal flutist for the National Opera Comique in Paris and toured extensively in his native France as well as Europe, Japan and North America.
Nicolas has performed internationally in solo recitals, chamber music ensembles and as orchestra soloist in prestigious concert halls including Salle Pleyel, Cité des Arts, Salle Gaveau and Salle Cortot in Paris, Claude Champagne Hall in Montreal, the Zitadelle Spandau in Berlin, Olympia Hall in Munich, Spivey Hall in Atlanta and Weill Recital Hall in New York.
Duchamp’s active international career takes him regularly throughout Europe, North America and to Japan. He has been featured in numerous international festivals, including the Belle Ile Festival, Radio France Broadcast Festival, Sarlat Festival, Saint-Yriex, Festival in France, Switzerland’s Crans-Montana Festival, the American Music Festival, Corsica's Festival du Vent and the Montreal Chamber Music Festival.
Onward, Soldiers is an indie rock band from Wilmington, NC. Known for their high energy live performances, the current line-up includes: Sean Thomas Gerard (vocals, guitar, piano), Lincoln Morris (lead guitar, vocals), Brian Mason (Drums) and Tripp Cox (Bass). Onward has steadily toured the country over the last 7 years and has released two full length albums on Winoca Records.
Critically celebrated, 2010's "Ghosts In This Town" is a compelling blend of unadulterated rock and haunting prose. Their second album, “Monsters”, released in February 2012, is a more refined version of the same raw yet melodic spirit Onward, Soldiers posses, and delivers the unexpected twists and turns of cleverly-crafted musicianship mixed with devilish style and endearing lyricism.
Growing interest presented the band with many opportunities including: festival showcases at SXSW, CMJ, Hopscotch, Bele Chere and 35 Denton among others, a compilation CD titled “Gasoline Rainbows” by Vagrant Records, and a feature on Nashville's Music City Roots. Actress Sophia Bush named Onward, Soldiers one of her favorite bands which led to a feature on One Tree Hill (Warner Brothers) with their first single 'Stick to your Guns', and an acoustic performance by STG for the song "Monsters" on the show in 2010. The band can also be seen on PBS's Sun Sessions, filmed at Sun Studios in Memphis, Tennessee.
Life in North Carolina and passion for music, culture, and art led Randy to be a roots musician and songwriter. Traveling solo or with his band around the Southeast region if the U.S. since age of sixteen, he has gained chops, experience, and notoriety. He has an aggressive, soulful, and sultry voice that lures the listener into original, heartfelt lyrics. His acoustic style is derived from claw-hammer and Travis picking styles with added percussion. Like an original troubadour, he harnesses the harmonica around his neck. Adding fast and sweeping single-note lines over rhythm guitar, he creates a full band sound. His idea is to push the boundaries of coordination, playing all the parts with no compromise.
“He is a storyteller, Bluesman, and a master interpreter of modern American roots music. Randy McQuay II sings from the heart, plays guitar with abandon, and blows harmonica like he’s from another planet. He’s the recipient of the prestigious Lee Oskar Top Harmonica Player Award from The Blues Foundation, winner of the International Blues Challenge in Memphis , TN, and the reigning Cape Fear Blues Challenge Solo Champion. He is a sought-after soloist known for his evocative takes on rhythm & blues, folk, rock & roll, funk, and roots music.” Lan Nichols President, Cape Fear Blues Society.
