Kenny Gasperson, a senior majoring in geosciences, began working for Information Technology Systems in Classroom Operations and AV Media in 2012, and according to Robb Mann, Manager of Classroom Operations and Special Events, "We are lucky to have Kenny. He is strongly customer service oriented and technology knowledgeable, which makes him a valuable and valued employee. He also has a very outgoing and friendly personality which is appreciated by our many clients."

Kenny, a Wilmington native, began working professionally at the age of seven in the film industry as a child actor, and throughout the years, he has worked on numerous productions. His credits include Matlock, The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, One Tree Hill, Summer Catch and several commercials. He has fond memories of working with other actors and film industry professionals on productions in Wilmington, a.k.a. "Hollywood East."

Growing up in a coastal community also gave him the opportunity to sharpen his skills as a lifeguard, which he laughingly notes is "a job that you can do anywhere." When asked how his employment in ITS compares with his other jobs throughout the years, Kenny is very complimentary. "Working for Robb Mann is wonderful. I'm very lucky to work for such a great person." He adds, "I have been able to build great skillsets just with this one job because there are so many facets involved… from sound to production to camera work. It's an awesome experience."

AV Media supports numerous events on campus where additional technology is needed, such as audio enhancement, additional projectors, etc. They also do audio for large scale events such as the Board of Trustees, Commencement and all the home basketball games. They have a fairly new capability of streaming live events (as well as recording them), a feature which has been used for several high profile events including the candidate search for the Associate Provost for University Research and the introduction of the new men's basketball coach.

Kenny is glad he has had a hand in helping with campus events while continuously learning about the technology involved. "I had very basic IT knowledge when I started here. Where I've come from then 'til now is immeasurable."

Kenny looks forward to the possibility of working in energy conservation after he obtains his BS in geosciences. Until then, ITS is pleased to have such a gregarious and capable student working with the AV Media team.
