Update: Tornado Watch Lifted

A tornado *watch* issued for the area including the main UNCW campus has been lifted.

A tornado *warning* issued for the area including the main UNCW campus has been lifted, but a tornado *watch* remains in effect for Southeastern North Carolina, including New Hanover County, until 9 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.

As a reminder, during emergency situations, please monitor your text messages, cell phone, email, UNCW homepage (www.uncw.edu), UNCW Alert page (www.uncw.edu/alert), the Emergency Information Hotline at 910.962.3991 or 888.657.5751, and local media. 

Only those students, faculty and staff who have voluntarily registered their cell phone numbers with the university will receive UNCW Alert emergency text messages and voicemails in emergency situations.

  • Sign up to receive emergency notifications on your phone: Log into mySeaPort. Click “Register to Receive UNCW Emergency Texts” in the left-hand navigation. Provide/update your personal information. Click “Submit.”
  • Discontinue emergency notificationsTo discontinue emergency text messages, reply “STOP UNCW” to the test message.
