UNCW Community Well-Represented Among the 2017 StarNews Media Wilmington Theater Award Nominees

Applause is in order for the UNCW faculty, staff, students and alumni who garnered 2017 StarNews Media Wilmington Theater Award nominations.

The nominations were announced Nov. 21 at TheatreNOW. The awards will be formally announced and presented on Feb. 2 at Thalian Hall. Online public voting is available through noon on Dec. 16.

Full- and part-time theatre department faculty and staff members, current students and graduates were recognized for their directing, acting and design talents in 12 categories:

Best Play:

Anne Berkley, UNCW associate professor of theatre, “Punk Rock,” UNCW Department of Theatre
Chris Marino, UNCW assistant professor of theatre, “Measure for Measure,” independent production

Director, Musical:
Shane Fernando ’00, ’08M, “The Fantasticks,” Thalian Hall Center for the Performing Arts Cube Theatre

Actress, Play:  
Morganna Bridgers ’09 as Lt. Cmdr. Joanne Galloway in “A Few Good Men,” Panache Theatrical Productions

Thomas Salzman, chair of the UNCW department of theatre, “Mad Forest,” UNCW Department of Theatre

The UNCW Department of Theatre 2016-17 season continues with a production of “Boeing Boeing,” Feb. 16-19 and Feb. 23-26. The season will conclude with “The Children's Hour,” March 30-April 2 and April 6-9.
