Three Seahawks Recognized by WILMA Magazine

Wednesday, August 03, 2016

UNCW faculty and staff are among women being recognized by WILMA Magazine’s Women to Watch and Leadership Initiative.

Kathy Browder, senior associate dean of the College of Health and Human Services, and Kat Pohlman, UNCW’s sustainability coordinator, are finalists for WILMA Magazine’s 2016 Women to Watch. Kristy Norton, head coach for the UNCW Women’s softball team, is among the nine women selected for WILMA’s Leadership Institute.

The magazine’s Women to Watch will honor 35 women for their talents in the areas of business, health care, nonprofit, public service, arts and education. A category also acknowledges the region’s rising stars. Finalists will be recognized and the winner for each category announced at the Women to Watch Awards reception on Oct. 21.

Norton is a member of the WILMA’s Women to Watch Leadership Initiative’s second leadership class. More than 80 nominations were submitted for the WILMA’s Leadership Institute, and a panel of judges interviewed 15 finalists. Over the next 10 months, the women will receive leadership training, meet with executives in the community and serve as a peer advisory board for one other.
