Wednesday, December 09, 2015

Fall commencement ceremonies for the University of North Carolina Wilmington were held Dec. 12 in Trask Coliseum. The graduating class included more than 1,300 summer and fall undergraduates, 170 graduate students and nine doctoral students.

This photo gallery highlights the day's festivities.

The Summer and Fall Classes of 2015 included:

Jorge Flores, a double major in Spanish and international studies, plans to teach English in Ecuador after commencement. As a coach with the Brigade Boys & Girls Club in Wilmington, he gained considerable experience guiding and motivating children. He also worked closely with Latino students from regional high schools through Mentors Initiating Community Action, Support and Advocacy (MI CASA), an innovative program offered by UNCW’s Centro Hispano.

Sara Harris, a biology major with a concentration in human sciences, eventually hopes to turn her experiences as the Miracle League’s volunteer coordinator into a nonprofit management role. After commencement, she plans to teach English in Mexico and collaborate with several friends to start a community agriculture project.

Parker Webb-Mitchell, a management information systems major, also wants to work abroad, preferably in Southeast Asia. While at UNCW, he studied abroad in China as well as the Czech Republic, where he and 22 other Cameron School of Business students completed a consulting project for an investment company. He described the program as “hands-down, the best experience I had during my years at UNCW.”

Congratulations, Seahawks!
