October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month

Tuesday, October 02, 2012

Recognizing the importance of cyber security, President Obama designated October as National Cyber Security Awareness Month. Information Technology Systems (ITS) seeks to continuously promote cyber security at UNCW and would like to take this opportunity to remind the campus of some helpful resources available to them.

In honor of this month, ITS raffled five licenses for Computrace "Lo-Jack for Laptops" at the Employee Wellness/Perks Fair on October 1. Lo-Jack tracks, locates and recovers stolen computers. Faculty, staff and students may purchase Lo-Jack for a discount at Binaries Tech Store.

ITS also would like to promote the EDUCAUSE 2013 Information Security Awareness Video & Poster Contest where students can win cash, gain experience and earn recognition with one short video or a poster! Gold (first place) winners will receive $2,000 in the video categories. View more details on this contest and numerous security resources at our Cyber Security site. Please also check out the ITS Be Safe website for information on keeping your computer, your mobile devices and yourself safe and secure online.
