UNCW's Advancement Services has won a Silver award from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) for a customized vendor software process that was developed collaboratively by Information Technology Systems Division, Advancement and Admissions. The CASE 2011 Circle of Excellence Awards Program acknowledges superior accomplishments that have lasting impact and that deliver outstanding results.
UNCW's winning application was developed to solve the operational dilemma of manually creating parent and student records in Banner Advancement using data collected in Banner Student. The original manual process took several fulltime employees almost six months to complete, starting on May 1 and ending in October of each year. The new process was implemented quickly by customizing existing vendor software currently in use at UNCW, and the end result is that Advancement's parent and student records are now all created by May 1, almost six months ahead of the previous process. The new process also gathers and links information to help construct a strategy for identifying and reaching parents during the crucial spring and summer time period. The collaboration that takes place across modules is truly innovative in a higher education environment.
UNCW's Parent Program and Parent's Council is recognized as one of the more successful parent fundraising programs in the UNC system. According to Suzie Daughtridge, Director of Advancement Services, "The efficiencies gained by the new process were transformative to our business practice in Advancement. The relationships Advancement has been able to build in other areas of the university, including ITSD, Admissions, Transition Programs, Development Staff and Prospect Management and Research are truly unique and a tribute to the collaborative culture of UNCW."
The Circle of Excellence Awards is advancement's premier international awards program exclusively recognizing the work of CASE members. CASE will post all winners on its website in mid-June at www.case.org.
