Services: The Center for Teaching Excellence

The Center for Teaching Excellence offers a number of services designed to aid, help, or support faculty in all facets of being a professional faculty member. Just some of the services we offer are below. For more information contact the CTE administrative associate, Dianne Bass: bassd@uncw.edu.

Consultation

We are happy to provide confidential consultations to faculty in all disciplines as they grapple with career-related challenges.

Classroom Observation

Instructors may arrange to have trained faculty observers attend class sessions and provide formative feedback. Please contact us to arrange faculty observers.

Quick Course Diagnosis

Instructors may arrange to have trained faculty facilitators attend a mid-semester class session and lead students in a 20- to 30-minute feedback-gathering exercise. Information from this session will be shared confdentially with the instructor, who will also report back to the students results from the session (Millis and Vazquez, 2010).

Faculty Leadership Support

The Center for Faculty Leadership offers programming and consulting services to campus leaders year-round. Leadership programming includes New Chair's Orientation, Policy Camp, and Chair's Camp, in addition to regular chairs' luncheons and reading groups. For consultations about Faculty Leadership Support contact your CTE and CFL Directors.
