Professor Lapierre (Ph.D., University of Pennsylvania) is a Professor of Communication Studies whose scholarship focuses on health communication, research methodology, media effects, and persuasion. His courses taught include Health Communication, Advanced Quantitative Methodology, and Communication Theory.

Professor Lapierre’s research explores how media affects the health and well-being of children/families. Research projects include investigations of the prevalence of background television in children’s homes, the influence of marketing cues on children’s consumer behavior, and the development of children’s persuasion awareness/susceptibility.
