Yvonne Kidd Newest Member of UNCW Board of Trustees

The University of North Carolina Wilmington is proud to announce that Asheboro native Yvonne Kidd has been sworn in as the newest member of the university’s Board of Trustees. Kidd took the Oath of Office with her husband and two children by her side at UNCW’s Burney Center on Dec. 2.

Yvonne (Gidget) Kidd, a current member and past chair of the Asheboro City Schools Board of Education, was appointed to the Board of Trustees by the UNC Board of Governors to serve a term ending in 2015. She serves on the Educational Planning and Programs Committee and the External Affairs Committee.

After graduating from the University of North Carolina Wilmington with a degree in elementary education in 1991, she was an elementary and middle school teacher with Randolph County Schools and served as director of the preschool program at Asheboro First United Methodist Church for nine years.  She has been engaged as a leader in numerous community organizations, including Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, the local Partnership for Children, Randolph Hospital Foundation and the Salvation Army.
