UNCW Named to The Princeton Review's List of "Best Value Colleges" for 2013

For the fifth consecutive year, the University of North Carolina Wilmington has been named one of the nation's "Best Value" colleges and universities, according to The Princeton Review.
The Best Value Colleges, subtitled "The 150 Best-Buy Colleges and What It Takes to Get In," profiles 75 public and 75 private colleges the Princeton Review designates as "Best Values" based on assessments that examined more than 30 data points covering academics, cost, and financial aid. The Review chose the 150 schools from 650 colleges and universities at which it conducted institutional and student surveys for this project in 2011-12. Of the 75 schools in each group, the top 10 colleges are ranked 1 to 10, and the remaining 65 are listed in alphabetical order.
In its profile of UNCW, the book's editors at The Princeton Review praise the university “as one of the best overall bargains based on cost and financial aid among the most academically outstanding colleges in the nation.”
UNCW students surveyed by the Review described the university as “a beautiful place full of enthusiastic students and dedicated faculty.” They noted the quality and reputation of many academic departments, such as marine biology, film studies and creative writing. The students also described the academic community as supportive. They said the faculty members are "engaging, interesting people who know their subject and care about their students."
"UNC Wilmington's consistent recognition by the Princeton Review as one of its ‘Best Value’ universities reflects our long-standing commitment to offer students high-quality learning experiences and affordability," said Chancellor Gary L. Miller. "This distinction from the Princeton Review showcases our dedicated faculty and staff and their outstanding contributions to the success of our students."
Says Robert Franek, Princeton Review's Senior VP/Publisher, "We commend UNCW and all of our extraordinary 2013 'Best Value Colleges' for their stellar academics and for all they are doing to make their colleges affordable, especially for applicants with need in these tough economic times."
The education services company profiles UNCW in its book, "The Best Value Colleges: 2013 Edition" (Random House / Princeton Review, $21.99, published February 5, 2013), and on a special area on its website.
USA TODAY, the Princeton Review's publishing partner for this project since 2009, has posted the Company's 2013 list and an exclusive database of "Best Value Colleges" information at a special area of USA TODAY.com.
