WITX Conference to Bring Together Information Technology Professionals April 18 at UNCW

The Wilmington Information Technology eXchange and Conference (WITX) will bring together more than 300 Wilmington information technology professionals to exchange ideas and learn about the latest trends on April 18 from 2 to 7 p.m.

Exhibitors will include representatives from technology vendors, UNCW students and faculty and Cape Fear Community College, sharing information and demonstrations on research projects and new technologies. The conference is hosted at the University of North Carolina Wilmington's Computer Information Systems (CIS) Building.

The overall conference is free to attend and open to the public. For the learning eXchange sessions and the keynote, a registration fee is required.

2 p.m.

Keynote - Tom Rabon of NewKind

Rabon, chairman and partner with NewKind, has more than 25 years of experience working in government and the private sector, including working as executive vice president of corporate affairs for RTP-based Red Hat and serving three terms as a member of the N.C. General Assembly. He is a former member of the UNCW Board of Trustees and a winner of the university's Razor Walker Award for Outstanding Public Service.

IGNITE WITX

The conference will feature Wilmington's first IGNITE event. This event features presenters who must cover their topics in 5 minutes, using 20 slides that auto-advance every 15 seconds. IGNITE presenters include John Hinnant of Wilmington Downtown Inc. and representatives from IBM, SAS and Wilmington-based TayloeGray Marketing.
