Sharon Baucom, Facilities Administrator
"What’s it all about, this AiM AssetWorks thing we’ve been talking about?” has become a popular question around the office. AiM stands for “intelligence” within asset management. AssetWorks is the name of the software vendor.
The concept of “computerizing” work control and asset management is not new. The Physical Plant has operated with a computerized work order system, called Facility Focus, for many years. What is new is that Facilities will now use software that will not only tie many of the functions within Facilities into a more streamlined process, but also work with other applications across campus. Our core modules will still provide tracking of work orders, supplies, inventory, projects and construction but a new module called Space Management is being added. It will enable other campus divisions to use the geographical and mapping data we maintain.
