Brexit the topic of Sister Cities event
The Wilmington Sister Cities Association's annual meeting will focus on why people voted to leave the European Union, and what the future implications are for relations within and outside the region. Paul Townend, Vice Chancellor and Dean of Undergraduate Studies at UNCW, is one of the featured speakers.

Technology Industry Report Spotlights Areas of Activity

The technology industry is an increasingly healthy part of North Carolina’s economy, according to a new report published by the N.C. Technology Association. Randall Johnson, executive director of N.C. Biotechnology Center’s Southeastern Office, said, “In partnership with UNCW, we will soon announce several new tools and initiatives to support the region’s clinical research industry cluster workforce.”

911 calls at UNC Wilmington shed light on alleged racial profiling incident

UNC Wilmington campus police have released audio of calls to campus police that resulted in a search of a university lecturer and his claim that he was racially profiled.

UNCW students help locals file taxes
UNCW offers the IRS-sponsored Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, which lets people file taxes with help from accounting students. Anyone making less than $64,000 can get free help through the program.

Tree Commission seeks award nominees
The Wilmington Tree Commission annually presents awards in two categories: Heritage Trees and Tree Awards. Students from the UNCW Environmental Studies Department are working with City Arborist Aaron Reese to learn the skills necessary for identifying Heritage Trees.

The Interfaith Refugee Ministry-Wilmington, along with UNCW's Department of International Studies, is sponsoring a presentation by author Msenwa Oliver Mweneake on March 14 in Morton Auditorium.
