What Do I Need To Do Prior To My Orientation Session?

  • Pay your Enrollment Deposit to the Admissions Office by the required deadline. The Enrollment Deposit payments may be made online and the link can be accessed through your Teal Ticket.
  • Register for your orientation session by the deadline. You must pay the Enrollment Deposit before you can register for orientation. You can view steps on how to register here.
  • Complete your pre-orientation online modules. Your UNCW orientation modules will be available through the VisualZen orientation system you registered with. The Online Violence Prevention Modules will be available via email from Catharsis after you complete your orientation registration. 
  • If you plan on living on-campus, sign up and pay your housing deposit.
  • Submit a photo for your student ID card, One Card. Submit a photo online to the UNCW One Card Online Photo Submission found in MySeaport. For more information on how to submit your photo online, refer to the One Card Photo Submission Guide.
  • Mail the Immunization and Medical History Form to the Student Health Center to avoid delays at orientation.
  • Enroll or waive Student Health Insurance to avoid delays at orientation.
  • Use the Foreign Language Placement Tool online prior to attending orientation. For registration purposes, it is critical you take this prior to orientation.
  • Complete and mail in the Disability Disclosure Form, if necessary.
  • Mail any final transcripts (high school, community colleges, etc.) to Admissions. If orientation occurs prior to completion of your final term, mail the transcripts upon completion of your term.
  • Make sure all Financial Aid paperwork is completed. File FAFSA; return award letter; sign master promissory note.
  • Read about the Math Placement Exam. The FAFSA opens on October 1 for the next academic year.
  • Music majors must contact the Department of Music at 910.962.3390 to schedule an audition and the music theory placement exam.

What Can I Take Care of During Orientation?

  • You will learn about campus resources and services
  • You will meet with an academic advisor
  • You will meet with an orientation leader and other first-year students
  • You will learn how to be a successful student at UNCW
  • You will register for courses
  • You will receive your UNCW One Card (your student ID card) at an orientation

What Do I Need To Take Care Of After Orientation?

  • Tuition and Fees: Billing schedules and payment due date information can be found on the Student Accounts website. Account balances can be viewed on SeaNet.
  • View and Update your Emergency Contact Information: Make sure that your Emergency Contact information is up-to-date! You can do so in SeaNet. Once logged into SeaNet, you click on the Personal Information tab and you can view what your current Emergency Contact information is and update it, if necessary.
  • Immunization Deadline: Classes will be canceled 30 days after class registration if immunizations are incomplete. Click here for more information.
  • Waive your Health Insurance: Students must go online and either enroll in the student health insurance plan or complete a waiver by showing proof of other insurance coverage.   • Register for Parking Permit: Students must register for classes before they can register for a parking permit. To register for a parking pass, please log into MySeaport to sign-up. Additional information regarding vehicle registration can be found on the Parking & Transportation website.
  • Pick a Meal Plan: To register for a meal plan, please log into MySeaport to sign-up. Additional information regarding choosing a meal plan can be found on the Student Meal Plan website.
  • Complete your Financial Aid Paperwork: Have you completed all of your financial aid requirements?  Log into SeaNet to confirm, or, review our Financial Aid 101 Guide for
    additional step-by-step guidance.
  • Get your Books from the UNCW Bookstore: After you register for classes, you can login to SeaNet, view the textbooks you will need for the semester (based on your registration) and order your textbooks online from the UNCW Bookstore. You can choose to purchase new or used books, rent textbooks or and e-books (when available) to save money!
