Seahawk Safety Week is hosted annually to promote various aspects of personal and community safety. Coinciding with National Clery Compliance Awareness Week, the university publishes the Annual Security Report and Annual Fire Safety Report to educate current and future Seahawks about safety statistics and educational programming. The Office of Title IX and Clery Compliance brings together campus and community partners to offer an array of engaging and educational opportunities during Seahawk Safety Week.

This event reviews the yellow ribbon campaign for suicide prevention by empowering communities to create supportive networks that reduce mental health stigma and increase awareness/education. The program provides tips on how to “Be the one to” offer hope in various ways to people having mental health concerns.

The simple yet courageous #metoo hashtag campaign has emerged as a rallying cry for people everywhere who have survived sexual assault and sexual harassment – and Tarana’s powerful, poignant story as creator of what is now an international movement that supports survivors will move, uplift, and inspire you.  #Metoo is not just an overnight hashtag sensation; Tarana has dedicated more than 25 years of her life to social justice and to laying the groundwork for a movement that was initially created to help young women of color who survived sexual abuse and assault. The movement now inspires solidarity, amplifies the voices thousands of victims of sexual abuse, and puts the focus back on survivors.

Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. Join the Counseling Center staff at this important gatekeeper training program.

HRL, EH&S and WFD are partnering up to show the dangers of fires in a residence hall as well as the outside community. We are going to build a residence hall room in the parking lot and then with the help of UPD, WFD, EH&S, let the room "catch on fire." UPD will be teaching students about ride along and other resources they offer. EH&S will teach students how to use fire extinguishers and answer questions about fire safety. Food will also be provided.
