Nu Omega Chapter Hosts 25th Annual Research Conference

On Nov. 17, the Nu Omega Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society conducted the 25th Annual Research Conference. The conference consisted of four podium presentations, four research poster presentations and six evidence-based project and performance improvement project poster presentations.  wards were announced to presenters in various categories:

Carolyn BrownThe Research Podium Presentation Award was given to Carolyn Brown (pictured at left) for her presentation “Factors Associated with the Early Identification of Sepsis.” The Evidence-Based and Performance Improvement Project Podium Award was given to Andrea Smith (BSN, Dec. ’14) for her presentation “Implementation of the Child and Caregiver Pain Management Plan: Quality Improvement Approach.” 

BuchnumThe Research Poster Presentation Award was given to Katharina Bucknum (BSN, Dec. ’17), who presented “Tattoos and Self-harm History in Young Adults: Artful Expression or Emotional Regulation?” An Honorable Mention was given to Alice Matthews and Brandon Hill for their poster presentation “A Pilot Study to Evaluate the Benefit of Enhancing Communication with Still Pictures or Two-way Video in Follow Up with the Post-operative Hip/Knee Replacement Population at an Orthopedic Hospital in Southeastern North Carolina.” 

MarieThe Evidence-Based Project and Performance Improvement Project Poster Presentation Award was given to Marie Campbell (pictured on left) for her poster “Implementation of an Advanced Clinical Practitioner Council within a Rural Organization.” An Honorable Mention was presented to Morgan Clark (BSN, Dec. ’17) for her poster “Donor Human Milk Attitudes and Consent.”
