All UNCW students will be housed one of two accommodation buildings, which will consist of four floors with two flats each, each flat will house eight students. The UNCW FYSA building will be a co-ed, alcohol free, with private rooms and en-suite bathrooms.
Typically, each flat will have two UNCW FYSA students, with 4 FYSA students on each floor. It is our hope that this housing allocation will keep students close to their UNCW FYSA cohort, but also allow them to fully experience meeting students from other countries on campus!
Student’s rooms are spacious and come with the following amenities:
- Bed
- Desk, desk chair, and connected shelving unit with a built in bulletin board
- Wardrobe closet
- Large window
- Personal bathroom in their room with a separate door. Bathrooms are equipped with a sink, toilet, and stall shower.
- Personal thermostat control
- Key card entrance/locked room door
- Bedding pack
The common area for each flat includes the following amenities:
- Two full size refrigerators
- Double sink
- Microwave
- Two stove tops
- Oven
- Eight person table and chairs
- Seating area and coffee table
- Trash and recycling receptacles
- Kitchen pack
Toiletries, groceries, and additional items can be bought in the nearby accommodation shop or stores in the city. So, if you need an extra blanket it's probably better to plan on buying one there rather than packing one in your suitcase. Given the airline restrictions on luggage weight, you want your suitcase to be filled with essentials.
On-Campus Dining
The majority of Bangor students living on-campus cook in the apartments, since they have the facilities and it saves money. However, some on-campus facilities (i.e. Bar Uno and Barlow's) are open on the weekends.
Several supermarkets are within walking distance:
- Morrisons (6 mins walk)
- ASDA (10-15 mins walk)
- Lidl (15 min walk)
There are also many cafes, pubs and restaurants in Bangor.
