Matthew M. Lastner

Associate Professor

Matt Lastner is an Associate Professor of Marketing at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Matt joined UNCW in the fall of 2019, and prior to that, worked at Illinois State University from 2017-2019. He earned his Ph.D. from Louisiana State University in 2017. Matt’s research primarily deals with disruption and recovery in buyer-seller relationships, and his work has been published in the Journal of Business Research, Psychology & Marketing, and the European Journal of Marketing, among others. Prior to academia, Matt worked for several years in sales and business development. His primary teaching responsibilities at UNCW are within the sales concentration (Professional Selling, Sales Management, and Negotiation), and he is also actively involved in supporting the Center for Sales Excellence and Customer Delight, serving as an advisor to the Sales Club, a coach for sales competitions, and the director for the Sales Mentorship Program. Away from campus, Matt enjoys spending time with his family, coaching/playing rec sports, and squeezing in the occasional round of golf.
