Gina Bowen

Gina Bowen has worked for several divisions since she started as a part-time employee in 2009.

She began her full-time career at UNCW in 2011 in the College of Health and Human Services. While she loves her current role as administrative associate in the Office of the Vice Chancellor of Business Affairs, she finds chairing the Staff Senate Scholarship Committee the most rewarding.

“The best part is contacting the award recipient and congratulating them on their accomplishments. It’s with pride that we are recognizing the leadership role staff plays in the daily work of the university,” she said.

The scholarship committee also awards the Global Travel Grant, which supports international travel for staff. She considers it an honor to represent and advocate for the university’s staff. Because of her work on the committee, she said, “I have a better understanding of the university and am proud to be a part of it.”

Through her affiliation with Staff Senate and within Business Affairs, Bowen enjoys collaborating and being part of a strong team, and appreciates the opportunity to develop professionally and interact with people from across campus. “I value the caring and dedicated people on this campus, professionals who work hard and do their job well,” she said.

Bowen has been married for 32 years and has a daughter in high school. Her son is a 2016 graduate of UNCW.
