Virgo Students Participate in Hamilton Challenge Pilot

Thursday, April 04, 2019

D.C. Virgo Preparatory Academy students interested in becoming business leaders had the chance to sharpen their entrepreneurship skills through a week-long program in April.

The innovative lab school was selected as a pilot for the Hamilton Challenge, a youth entrepreneurship initiative sponsored by The Brian Hamilton Foundation. The challenge was designed to encourage students in grades 6-8 to develop basic skills to launch their own small businesses.

The nonprofit foundation partnered with D.C. Virgo and the UNCW Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) to incorporate the challenge into the school’s classes.

Foundation founder Brian Hamilton visited D.C. Virgo on April 8 to kick off the challenge.

UNCW announced the selection of Virgo for the Hamilton Challenge in a home page story on April 4. Read the full story here: D.C. Virgo Preparatory Academy Selected for Hamilton Challenge.
