Wednesday, April 03, 2019

More than 130 middle school students from 14 schools in New Hanover and Pender Counties participated in GE Hitachi’s 11th annual Girls in Technology Summit. The event was held at the Watson College on March 28.

This year participating students, including a team from D.C. Virgo, learned to build weather stations and capture weather data. More than 30 female engineers and technologists were on hand to serve as role models and coaches during the full-day event.

Sue Kezios, director of UNCW Youth Services and Michelle Hafey, CESTEM program associate, helped to host the GE event.
