Dennis Kubasko Named President-Elect of NC Science Leadership Association

Saturday, April 06, 2019

Watson College associate professor Dennis Kubasko has been elected president-elect for the North Carolina Science Leadership Association. The news was announced in the NCSLA Newsletter in March. Kubasko assumes the role on June 1.

NCLSA provides opportunities for leaders in both formal and informal science education by offering a forum to exchange ideas and information, advancing quality STEM instruction and influencing education policies and education.

“I am excited to take an active leadership role with NCSLA, one of the few organizations that celebrates the accomplishments of all science leaders,” Kubasko said. “I appreciate every chance to professionally serve our practicing teachers across North Carolina. I believe my greatest strength is empowering STEM leaders from schools to informal educators to business leaders and community volunteers, and enjoy promoting STEM education in all aspects of our communities.”

Kubasko is an associate professor of secondary science education at the Watson College and former director of WCE’s Center for Education in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (CESTEM). He has been actively involved with NCSLA since 2005, and has served as a member of NSCLA’s board of directors since 2014.
