WCE Hosts Orientation for Ed.D. Cohort Nine

The Watson College welcomed 22 students to WCE’s Educational Leadership doctoral program this fall.

WCE Dean Van Dempsey, UNCW Graduate School Dean Ron Vetter, Associate Deans Donyell Roseboro and Carol McNulty and faculty members Marsha Carr, Kevin McClure and Donna DeGennaro were on hand to welcome the members of cohort nine at an orientation on Aug. 4. Carr is interim chair of WCE’s Department of Educational Leadership and coordinator of the Ed.D. concentration in educational administration; McClure is assistant professor and coordinator of the Ed.D. concentration in higher education; and DeGennaro is assistant professor and coordinator of the Ed.D. concentration in curriculum and instruction.

The day featured presentations on program organization, advising, internships and opportunities for international experiences, a panel discussion with students currently enrolled in WCE’s doctoral program and informal small group discussions.

Student panel participants were Kirsten Able, Shanita Anderson and Denise Hunt (curriculum & instruction), Catherine Johnson and Donna Thomas (educational administration), and Adam Hall and Christina Logan (higher education).
