WSL Program Student Organization Members

The Watson Student Leader program, introduced in 2013, was approved as a UNCW student organization by the Student Government Association in September. The official name of the organization is the UNCW Watson Student Leader Honorary Program. Currently, 63 students are participating in the program which is coordinated by Amy Rottmann, WCE director of Student Engagement and Recruitment.

WSL Program is Approved as UNCW Student Organization Watson Student Leaders (WSLs) serve as ambassadors and represent the Watson College through leadership, professionalism and service.

This fall, WSLs helped promote the college and the teaching profession by visiting area high schools, making presentations in 36 freshmen seminars and joining faculty at UNCW’s Undergraduate Open House and Career Carnival events. They served as ambassadors, greeting guests at functions hosted by the college, including the Public Speaker Series event featuring Terrell Strayhorn in October.

In service to the community, WSLs participated in the Battleship Run fundraiser and volunteered at the Coddington Fall Festival.  They also worked at the Food Bank, where they packaged 12,000 pounds of food and participated in the Zombie Walk, helping to raise money for 20,000 meals.
