Watson College Dean Kenneth Teitelbaum is the recipient of a University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Education Alumni Achievement Award for 2014-15.

In a letter of congratulations to Teitelbaum in October, UW-Madison School of Education Dean Julie Underwood wrote, “This award, the highest honor bestowed on our graduates, recognizes your extraordinary career as an outstanding scholar, teacher and administrator.”

Teitelbaum has been praised by colleagues for his unique contributions to educational leadership as well as activity with school districts, national committees and pro-education alliances throughout the state, region and nation, Underwood said.

“The UW-Madison School of Education is a school of education that values scholarship and the use of scholarship to inform practice. You have demonstrated this ideal throughout your career and at several universities, and I thank you for exemplifying this as a UW-Madison alumnus,” she wrote.

Teitelbaum was nominated for the prestigious award by Michael Apple, the John Bascom Professor of Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Policy Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

An award presentation and celebration to honor Teitelbaum’s distinguished career will be held at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in spring 2015.
