Dear students, faculty, staff and friends of the College of Arts and Sciences:

I am pleased to share the latest issue of Inside CAS with you. The fall semester was a very exciting time for the college. We hosted UNCW’s first Global Marine Science Summit, our students and faculty continued to earn accolades for their research and several of our degree programs received national recognition. Some of these achievements are highlighted here.

The new year is already off to a great start! Earlier this month, UNCW broke ground on “Veterans Hall,” our new allied health building. The facility will house laboratory and classroom space for new pharmaceutical science and chemistry programs. CAS is thrilled to be a partner in this project, and we are eager to work with the College of Health and Human Services to advance health care education in our region. Looking ahead, 2018 promises to be another very exciting year for CAS. Guided by our strategic plan, we will continue to expand our degree offerings to meet the needs of our community and increase opportunities for our graduates.

Read on to learn more about all the amazing things students, faculty and staff are doing in our community and beyond. It is a privilege to work alongside them each day, and I ask for your partnership in supporting their endeavors and the mission of our college.

I look forward to seeing you during Homecoming 2018 (February 9-11) as UNCW celebrates 70 years of excellence!

Best regards,

Aswani K. Volety, Ph.D.
