UNCW Chancellor Recognized on 2026 Business NC Power List

UNCW Chancellor Aswani K. Volety has been recognized on the 2026 Business NC Power List for his leadership and contributions to education in North Carolina. The recognition highlights Chancellor Volety's impact on higher education and his role in advancing the state's business community through education and workforce development. 

In a congratulatory letter, North Carolina Commissioner of Labor Luke Farley commended Chancellor Volety for his leadership, writing that this recognition “reflects the respect you have earned from your peers and the meaningful contributions that you make to the Education industry.” The letter also recognized Volety’s commitment to developing a thriving workforce and supporting North Carolina's continued growth and prosperity. 

"North Carolina's future depends on the strength of its people, and higher education plays a vital role in preparing the next generation of leaders, innovators and problem-solvers," said Volety. "I am honored to be included among this year's Business NC Power List and share this recognition with the dedicated faculty, staff, students, alumni and partners who make UNCW's impact possible. Together, we are expanding opportunities for our students while contributing to the continued growth and success of our state." 

The annual Business NC Power List recognizes influential leaders from across North Carolina whose work is shaping the state's economy, communities and future.  

Since joining UNCW in 2022, Volety has led initiatives that strengthen the university's role as a driver of student success, regional economic development and innovation. Under his leadership, UNCW has continued to expand research, deepen partnerships across North Carolina and advance its mission of transforming lives through education, scholarship and service.
