UNCW Deputy Director of Athletics and Senior Women Administrator Tiffany Tucker has been appointed the director of athletics at the University of Maryland Baltimore County.

Tucker joined the UNCW athletics department in January 2019 and was later promoted to deputy athletic director in August 2021.

"To the amazing student-athletes, dedicated coaches, supportive staff, and wonderful Wilmington community, the time I have spent here has been a true blessing, filled with remarkable achievements, invaluable lessons and enduring friendships," said Tucker. "Together, we have built a legacy of excellence, resilience and unity that will forever hold a special place in my heart. Thanks for your unwavering support, your passion and your commitment. It has been an honor to be part of this incredible family, and I will carry the spirit of UNCW and Wilmington with me always."

During her tenure in Wilmington, Tucker played a key role in the overall operations of the department. She led important searches for the program's head men's basketball coach, head volleyball coach, director of sports performance, and senior associate athletic director for internal operations.

On campus, she was a member of the search committee for a new vice chancellor of student affairs and currently serves on the Community Engagement & Applied Learning Advisory Board, Emergency Planning Committee, Esports Steering Committee and Innovation and Economic Prosperity Universities Program Committee.

Prior to UNCW, Tucker served as deputy athletics director and SWA at South Carolina State in Orangeburg.

"Tiffany Tucker's leadership and service stand out because she embraced UNCW's commitment to helping our student-athletes excel in the classroom, in competition and in the community," said UNCW Chancellor Aswani K. Volety. "She inspired our players, supported our coaches and cheered with our fans. We have a saying at UNCW—once a Seahawk, always a Seahawk. Tiffany will always be a part of our community, and we will be rooting for her as she takes on this new leadership role at UMBC."

"I commend UMBC President Valeria Sheares Ashby and the search committee for providing her the opportunity to lead their athletics department," said UNCW Director of Athletics Michael Oblinger. "Tiffany's leadership played a vital role in our success during her five years serving at UNCW. Tiffany will be sorely missed but we couldn't be happier for her."
