Coloring the Landscape Summit to be Held March 7

UNCW’s Watson College of Education, in partnership with Cape Fear Community College and New Hanover County Schools, will host the Spring 2023 Coloring the Landscape Summit on March 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will gather future teachers, current and retired educators, school and district leaders, community college partners, university faculty, and local and state organizations committed to the recruitment and retention of educators of color.
Donyell Roseboro, UNCW's Chief Diversity Officer, and James E. Ford, Executive Director, Center for Racial Equity in Education, are keynote speakers. The full-day summit will also feature:
- Ignite Sessions focused on statewide organizations, regional networks, district-level retention and equity initiatives, and future teacher recruitment initiatives in our region and across the state,
- Collective Brilliance Cafes offer attendees an opportunity to network, share strategies, and engage in discussions around teacher recruitment and retention, and
- Facilitated Guided Action Sessions focused on Future Teacher Identity, Educational Attainment, Pathways to the Classroom, and Informed Advocacy and Policy.
The Watson College of Education and the Public School Forum NC Educator Pipeline Collaborative are sponsoring the summit.
