May 24, 2022 update: The 2022 Entrepreneur of the Year Award was presented to Apiture, a Wilmington-based company formed as a joint venture between Live Oak Bank and Atlanta-based First Data Corp. Apiture provides financial institutions like community banks and credit unions with a platform to support the many services they offer their customers. 

The UNCW Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the Greater Wilmington Business Journal invite the community to the annual Coastal Entrepreneur Awards Breakfast. The 2022 Coastal Entrepreneur of the Year will be announced at the event which begins at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24 in UNCW’s Burney Center.

The CEAs recognizes up-and-coming ventures and innovative established companies in New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender counties.

This year’s award winners are:

• Emerging Company: Portrett Pharmaceuticals
• Film: Honey Head Films
• Health Care: Clarity Counseling
• Health Care: MyPeriodPal
• Manufacturing and Distribution: NC Lumber & Supply
• Minority-Owned Business: Elaborate Outings - Luxury Picnics
• Nonprofit: Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Center
• Retail & Hospitality: Clean Eatz
• Professional Services: Cape Fear Solar Systems
• Technology: Apiture
